Walking into ReMo’s Cafe, you’re greeted with a warm atmosphere that makes every guest feel like a VIP.
Yet, it was those running the place who felt the warmth during recent hard times, and we’re not talking about the weather.
A series of break-ins at the cafe have drawn an outpouring of concern and solidarity from the community, as patrons have rallied together to ensure the restaurant remains a staple in the area.
Owned by the dynamic trio of Regina, Tempest, and Tre, this family-run, black-owned restaurant has been serving up a delicious mix of BBQ and Southern cuisine for the last eight years.
Bestsellers include the H-Town Combination Plate, featuring brisket, ribs, and sausage; the H-Town Baked Potato, which features the same meats on a giant baked potato; Remo’s Loaded Fries, loaded with beef, chicken, sausage, and pork; and, last but not least, the Fried Catfish, which we suggest you don’t skip.
Each dish is carefully crafted using fresh ingredients that showcase the rich flavors of Southern cooking.
“These dishes have really become customer favorites and are a big part of what we’re known for,” said owner Tempest Fontenot.
While their patrons come back again and again for the delicious food, what truly sets ReMo’s apart is the sense of community surrounding the restaurant, especially in the wake of the break-ins.
Fontenot said: “People were shocked and concerned for our safety, but their support has been overwhelming. Many reached out to offer help, whether by checking in on us, spreading the word, or simply showing up to support our business even more.”
With a commitment to their customers and the neighborhood, ReMo’s Cafe is looking towards the future.
“Right now, this is our only spot, but we’re excited to say we’re exploring opportunities to expand in the near future,” Fontenot said.
The owners believe that continued support from local diners is the key to their growth. They encourage everyone to engage with the restaurant—whether by dining in, placing takeout orders or sharing their experiences on social media.
ReMo’s Cafe is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m.
Whether you’re craving BBQ, soul food or a juicy hamburger, ReMo’s Cafe has something for everyone, even a free Kool-Aid with purchases over $25. Be sure to check out the “family packs” for carry-out to feed a crowd!
“We truly appreciate all the love we’ve received and hope to keep serving this amazing community for years to come,” Fontenot said.
