Dear Five Corners Residents,
Hurricane season is here, and now is the time to prepare. Taking a few simple steps before severe weather arrives can help protect your family, your home, and our community.
Before the Storm:
- Secure or bring indoors all outdoor furniture, decorations, trash cans, grills, and any loose items that could become airborne.
- Trim dead branches and remove debris from your yard.
- Clear gutters and storm drains to help reduce localized flooding.
- Check that your emergency kit is stocked with water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, a first aid kit, and important documents.
- Charge cell phones, portable battery packs, and other essential electronic devices.
- Fill your vehicle with fuel before the storm arrives.
- Review your family’s emergency and evacuation plan and know your local evacuation routes if they become necessary.
During the Storm:
- Stay indoors and away from windows.
- Follow instructions from local emergency officials.
- Avoid driving through flooded streets. Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
After the Storm:
- Be cautious of downed power lines, standing water, and debris.
- Report any common area damage to the HOA office as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Contact your utility provider directly to report power outages.
- Please be patient as vendors and emergency crews work to restore services throughout the community.
Community Reminders:
- Secure all trash and recycling containers before the storm.
- Do not place storm debris at the curb until local officials announce debris collection procedures.
Preparing now can make a significant difference when severe weather threatens. We encourage everyone to stay informed by monitoring local weather forecasts and emergency alerts.
Stay safe and thank you for helping keep Five Corners Management District prepared.
