There comes a time that a community must come together to fight for its values. That time is now. As a community, we are faced with a threat to our values. For the last several weeks, we have had conversations with HEB about the proposed Joe V’s Smart Shop to be located on W. Fuqua at Beltway 8. We feel that we deserve a better grocery store since several years ago, HEB visited the community and informed us that the company planned to build a HEB on the site. Our objection to the Joe V’s Smart Shop is that it is in predominately black and brown communities, in fact, 83%. See the black and brown percent-age make-up in the communities in which it is located:
7755 W. Bellfort – 68%
612 N. Victory – 76%
12035 Antoine — 65%
12009 N.W. Freeway – 35%
56609 Uvalde — 65%

Are there Joe V’s Smart Shops in Bellaire, Midtown, Tanglewood, Memorial, the Heights, Midtown, Montrose, Upper Kirby, Sugar Land, Pearland, The Woodlands? No! Why not?

Please attend the Update Meeting Friday, April 17, 6:00 P.M., at the Fountain Life Center, 14083 S. Main at Hillcroft.
