Here For You – Free Child Watch on Election Day
In an effort to provide busy parents and guardians an opportunity to vote on Election Day on November 8, the YMCA of Greater Houston is offering two hours of free child care through its Child Watch program.
At the Y, children ages 6 months through 11 years will be supervised by trained and attentive staff members and can engage in arts and crafts, games, puzzles, blocks, and storytelling.

Helping You Live Better – YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. Did you know the Y has a program in place to help those who are prediabetic make healthier lifestyle choices?
The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is a 16-week program developed to reduce the risk of diabetes in individuals showing pre-diabetic symptoms. Each week’s one-hour session is facilitated by a trained Lifestyle Coach and covers nutrition, physical activity and behavior modification to help participants achieve the program’s two main goals:
- Reduce body weight by 7%
- Engage in regular physical activity

The holidays are a great time to give back to those in need. All proceeds from our fall fun runs are invested in our community to help everyone have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
