Beginning TODAY (Tuesday, January 4), the Houston Police Department kicks off its campaign for Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
Throughout the month, HPD’s Office of Community Affairs will post videos and “factoids” about human and labor trafficking to the department’s social media platforms. Each video will feature a member of the HPD Vice Division, who will explain his or her role in HPD’s fight against human trafficking, and educate and empower members of our communities to end human trafficking.
Our first video, which introduces our Vice Division Commander, can be viewed here:

Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. It can happen in any community and its victims can be any age, gender, race or nationality. Trafficking is a serious problem that may be one of the fastest growing crimes.
