In partnership with the 5 Corners District, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zones 9 and 25 invite construction bids for sidewalk, curb and ramp improvements in the South Post Oak-Hiram Clarke-Fort Bend areas of southwest Houston.
“The 5 Corners Improvement District is pleased and honored to show how collaboration among grassroots government entities can deliver grassroots improvements on a block by block level. Through the district’s tri-party agreement with the TIRZs, we get to show how government can deliver for the people it serves,” said Homer Clark, 5 Corners Improvement District chairman.
The district and the TIRZs work together under the tri-party agreement to enhance the physical, social and economic well-being of the area.
“During a time when the novel coronavirus pandemic is threatening the financial resources of local governments across the nation, our trio of quasi-government entities is pleased to be able to move forward with projects that will improve basic neighborhood mobility,” Tandelyn Atkinson Weaver, TIRZ 9 chairwoman, said.
TIRZ 25 Chairman Theadore Andrews said, “When it comes to improving our neighborhoods, there’s nothing more essential than sidewalks, curbs and ramps, so that residents can move smoothly and safely around in normal times as well as during a pandemic. We are proud to be able to play a role in positive changes in the everyday lives of so many people.”
The construction bid invitation includes opportunities for minority-owned and small businesses to work as prime contractors. Huitt-Zollars, Inc., is engineer for the projects.
Potential bidders may participate in “virtual” information sessions by Zoom on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, and bids must be submitted by 4 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020. See information below for details.
