This year (2015) is an election year for mayor, city council, and controller. Please be sure that you learn as much as you can about the candidates. Attend candidate forums whenever you can. There are several council members –at-large who are term-limited.
On another subject, there are some issues that will be facing us in 2015. We will need your help by going to city hall, the Houston Independent School District, or other entities. By turning out in large numbers to these venues, we can send a message that we expect accountability from our elected officials. We are all tax payers in some form or the other, and we have the right to demand better service, better representation, and respect.
Do not forget the District K Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Meeting March 5, 2015, 6:30 P.M., at Fondren Middle School. Come and get information about what is planned short term and long term for District K. Some people have come to meetings misinformed about projects. By attending the CIP meeting, you will have a written copy of the projects.
