Construction Update for Chimney Rock & S. Rice Bridges

As part of the Chimney Rock and South Rice Bridge construction projects, both northbound and southbound lanes across both bridges will be reduced from two lanes down to one lane between North Braeswood and South Braeswood Boulevards, but the dedicated left turn lanes on the bridges will remain available. The lane reductions on the bridges will occur this week. Additionally, in the coming weeks, the lanes will also be reduced on North Braeswood and South Braeswood Boulevards from two lanes down to one lane at both Chimney Rock Road and South Rice Avenue.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we demolish and replace the current bridges with higher, longer, and wider bridges. This will increase the channel’s capacity, allowing for more flood waters to flow throughout Brays Bayou. Construction is expected to be completed by Winter 2021/2022.
