Dear District K Friends,

As 2024 approaches, I want to express my gratitude, celebrate our continued service, and share hope for a safe new year.

In our upcoming January newsletter, we’ll reflect on the past six years in office. For now, let’s close out the year with some city service updates, a reminder about the dangers of celebratory gunfire and an invitation to the City of Houston’s 2024 Inauguration Ceremony.

Remember, firing guns in the air is not only reckless but also illegal. Stray bullets can cause serious harm. If you witness this activity, report it anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. You might be eligible for a $5000 reward if your tip leads to an arrest.

Fireworks are also prohibited within city limits. Let’s be mindful of our neighbors and ensure a peaceful celebration.

Wishing you all a safe and healthy transition into the new year! Excited for four more fantastic years together. See you in 2024!

In service,

Martha

Join Us to Celebrate Four More Years Together!
January 2, 2024, is Inauguration Day in the City of Houston. This is a free ticketed event and I would love to see as many District K residents there as possible. Houstonians can obtain tickets at the Wortham Theater box office on the day of the event starting at 8am. Parking is free at the Wortham garage for the event.

After the inauguration ceremony there will be a short City Council meeting, then a reception in your District K office. Come by and greet your District K team and let’s celebrate our victory and prepare to take District K and Houston higher, together.

If you can’t make it downtown, the event will also be live streamed for viewing on HTV. We look forward to seeing you all there as we are sworn in!#ThankYouDistrictK

The Simon Minchen Park Ribbon Cutting has been postponed.

Stay Tuned! Houston Parks Board will announce the new date and time in early 2024. We know the delay will be worth the wait.
