District K Friends,
November is a month of gratitude! As I reflect on that which I am grateful, my thoughts are of our kind District K partners, leaders and families. I am truly grateful for the members of our extended community. I am filled with joy as I witness the extreme generosity happening throughout our neighborhoods, with our non-profits and our faith-based organizations. We are only as strong as our most vulnerable constituents; so, thank you all for being your neighbor’s keeper.
I count my blessings every day for the simple pleasures and I’m looking forward to sharing some quality time this holiday with my friends and family. No matter what trial you may be facing, there is always, always something to be thankful for. The sooner we get started recognizing those good things, the sooner we’ll discover even more.

What a joy to join with our community partners to ensure every family in our district will have a Thanksgiving meal to enjoy with their families. The District K Team joined New Faith Church, Ridgemont Community Improvement Association (CIA), Bee Busy Wellness Center and Riceville Mount Olive Church in distributing turkeys, hams and smiles! The Fountain of Praise Church also shared turkeys and fixings for delicious meals to families as well. We definitely have so much to be grateful for.

Solid Waste Management Department Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

Thursday, November 24, 2022 (Thanksgiving Day)
There will be no collection services. All facilities, including Neighborhood Depositories, Westpark Recycling Center, Environmental Service Center, and Reuse Warehouse. All administrative offices will remain closed for the remainder of the week.
Friday, November 25, 2022
Neighborhood Depositories, Westpark Recycling Center, Environmental Service Center, and the Reuse Warehouse will resume normal operations.
Saturday, November 26, 2022
Friday’s garbage and yard waste will be collected. Curbside recycling will be serviced on your next scheduled collection day, December 9, 2022.

- Local bus, METRORapid and METRORail will operate on regular weekend schedules.
- Park & Ride routes will not operate on these days.
- METRO curb2curb service will operate on regular schedule.
METROLift
On Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25, 2022
METROLift Reservations and Customer Service offices will be closed. All Thursday and Friday subscription trips will be cancelled. Customers should call the reservation line at 713-225-6716 by Wednesday, Nov. 23, to schedule trips from Thursday, Nov. 24 – Monday, Nov. 28.
