Community Center Update
for District K Residents

We want to share an important update from the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) regarding the temporary closure of the Marian Park Community Center.

Unfortunately, the center recently experienced a power outage caused by a snake coming into contact with the facility’s power bus. This resulted in a complete loss of power. The equipment needed to restore power is highly specialized and must be custom manufactured, so at this time, we do not have a confirmed timeline for reopening.

HPARD is actively exploring temporary solutions, including repair options and cost estimates. Once quotes are received, staff will work to identify potential funding sources, as this unplanned repair was not included in the current budget.

In the meantime, HPARD’s Recreation Division is working to relocate programs and activities to nearby community centers. If you usually attend programs at Marian Park, you’re encouraged to visit one of the following locations:

Lansdale Community Center
📍 8201 Roos Rd., Houston, TX 77036
📞 713-272-3668

Sharpstown Community Center|
📍 6600 Harbor Town, Houston, TX 77036
📞 832-395-7605

We know how important Marian Park is to the community, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as HPARD works diligently toward a solution. We’ll continue to provide updates as they become available.

For questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our District K office or contact the centers listed above directly.
