Locke Solutions, a local concrete manufacturer that broke ground in 2013, has already outgrown its first Houston office. The homegrown concrete company spent the winter holidays packing up their original office and moving into their new facility in Five Corners in preparation for another year of growth.
“Five Corners has shown a commitment to investing in and upgrading the area with proactive programs addressing graffiti abatement and improving road conditions,” said Locke Solutions president Asher Kazmann. “We feel as if this area will continue to increase in value and benefits as we grow our company. Our former operation was not far away, and this is a great area to be in relative to where our employees live and with our access to the 288 and the Beltway.”
So what does this new neighbor provide for the community? “Most of our work is for clients in and around the Houston area. We provide precast concrete structures for both George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby Airports, Port Houston facilities, University of Houston and Texas A&M underground power infrastructure, and many industrial facilities along the Gulf Coast,” explained Kazmann. “We are also a premier supplier for precast concrete manholes for Center Point Energy. We expect to see modest growth going into 2018 as it appears construction activities have seen an uptick over the past few months.” That’s putting it lightly: between residential and business development growth in Harris County, Houston could see 70,000 jobs added to the workforce in 2018.
Besides building facilities around Houston, Locke has built a large part of their own Five Corners location. “We did fabricate many components of our new facility, from the concrete walls and panels to the storm water catch basins and clean water filtration system.“ The esplanade in front of their new Five Corners location has been the topic of conversation, too. Kazmann went on to explain that Locke Solutions is making an emphasis on enhancing foliage and green space at the site, and maintaining the esplanade in front of Locke Solutions’ address. “We designed the position of the facility to allow us to continue to add more trees, bushes, and landscaping along the front of the property, along Almeda Genoa. We also incorporated an outdoor space adjacent to our lunchroom facilities to allow our employees a chance to enjoy the perfect Houston weather in the spring and fall.”
