National Observance Promotes “Awareness and Advocacy”
October is Disability Awareness Month, a national celebration designed to raise public awareness of the rights, concerns and contributions of Americans with disabilities. Houstonians are invited to join City of Houston officials and community partners for the kickoff of month-long festivities on Friday, September 30, 2016, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, 1475 West Gray.
The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Sylvester Turner marking the re-opening of the center, a City Proclamation, speakers, live entertainment, exhibits, activities and refreshments.
