Last week was tough, Houston! Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help others. Your efforts, big and small, have made a difference in our recovery from Hurricane Beryl. We can’t do everything, but we can all do something, and together, we’ve shown incredible strength and unity. Stay encouraged and keep supporting one another—we’re rebuilding and coming back stronger than ever.

Free Air Conditioners Available for Seniors
and People with Disabilities
from Houston Health Department
Seniors, people with disabilities and caregivers of disabled children in Harris County can apply for a free portable air conditioner unit from the Houston Health Department.

Approximately 200 units are available by calling the Harris County Area Agency on Aging, a division of the department, at 832-393-4301.

Recipients will receive information and assistance with the installation of the units. Only people who have never received an air conditioner unit through the department are eligible to apply. 

People 60 and older are considered seniors and eligible to apply.

Storm Debris Update
The City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department has launched a Storm Debris Collection progress tracker. This tool lets residents monitor daily debris collection efforts after Hurricane Beryl and the May 16 Derecho. FEMA & SBA Financial Assistance Information
FEMA has approved our request for individual assistance. This means residents can get help with temporary housing, emergency home repairs, personal property losses, disaster legal services, disaster unemployment assistance, and related medical, dental, and funeral expenses.

To apply for FEMA disaster assistance, visit disasterassistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.
Don’t forget to take photos of any damage caused by Hurricane Beryl. These photos are crucial for FEMA’s assessment process. To ensure eligibility, report all property damages to the State of Texas using the iSTAT tool at damage.tdem.texas.gov.

Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to Texas businesses and residents affected by Beryl. Applicants may apply online and receive additional disaster assistance information athttp://sba.gov/disaster.
