Grant award reveal at City Hall
The Hiram Clarke Fort Bend Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 25), a partner agency of the 5 Corners District, is among the winners of a Houston coalition’s micro-grants for developing environmentally responsible modes of transportation in underserved neighborhoods.
Mayor Sylvester Turner announced the grant winners on Thursday, Aug. 24, on behalf of the new Evolve Houston coalition that includes the city, Shell, NRG, Centerpoint and the University of Houston. (See evolvehouston.org).
“The grant winners we recognized today are trailblazers in their communities,” the mayor said.
Each will receive $10,000 to $15,000 dollars.
The funds will allow the redevelopment authority to expand a bike share program in 5 Corners and nearby neighborhoods “while providing additional options to explore parks and trails,” according to Thursday’s announcement.
GM, bp America and Corporate Catalysts provided funding for the eight grants.
