Vice Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum Joins Mayor Turner and the Houston Parks Board to Celebrate Mayfair Park Improvements!

Vice Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum joins Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Houston Parks Board for a special event at Mayfair Park, brought to you by the 50/50 Park Partners initiative, Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 11 AM . We are thrilled to celebrate the wonderful improvements made possible through this collaborative effort. The event promises to be a family-friendly and bilingual celebration.

There will be plenty of attractions, including refreshments, exciting freebies, and more. Mayfair Park, located at 6000 Arthington Ave., Houston, TX 77053, is now even better thanks to the recent enhancements. Some notable upgrades include a new shaded playground unit designed for children aged 2 to 5 years, as well as new swings to bring joy to park-goers.

Moreover, the park has received improved lighting, making it safer and more welcoming during the evening hours. New walkways have been added to make strolling around the park a pleasant experience, and a detention area has been incorporated to enhance drainage and prevent water accumulation. The Houston Parks and Recreation Department has also generously provided new park furniture, such as benches, picnic tables, trash cans, and drinking fountains for everyone’s convenience.

Lastly, to ensure the park’s security and aesthetics, new fencing has been installed at the front of the park. We cannot wait to share these fantastic improvements with you and your family. Come join us as we celebrate Mayfair Park’s transformation into a fantastic community space. See you there!
