Harris County Precinct One Community Meeting on Flood Risk Reduction Project, March 31st

 
The Harris County Flood Control District will hold a virtual Community Engagement Meeting for the Tributary C144-00-00 Flood Risk Reduction Project located in the Sims Bayou watershed. The purpose of this meeting is to inform residents about the status of the project and share project information. 
 
The Tributary C144-00-00 Flood Risk Reduction Project seeks to make improvements to reduce the risk of flooding in the area. This project will be paid for with funds from the 2018 Bond Program, which were approved by Harris County voters on August 25, 2018. Community engagement is an important component of the Bond Program, and we invite your participation as the program is implemented.
 
The Virtual Community Engagement Meeting will be held on:

The meeting will begin with a brief presentation to share project updates, followed by a moderated Q&A session with Flood Control District team members. Residents will be able to submit questions and comments before, during and after the meeting and throughout the public comment period. Any comments not addressed during the Q&A session will receive a response at the conclusion of the public comment period.  
 
Even if you are unable to attend the live meeting, residents are encouraged to register for the meeting to receive future project updates. A recorded version of the meeting will be available on the Flood Control District’s website and YouTube channel after the event. The Brays Oaks Super Neighborhood Council #36, the Neighborhood to Trails Southwest and Friends of Keegan Bayou Trail and Park have partnered to clean 2 locations on the Keegans Bayou trail.
Volunteer to help clean community hiking & biking trails. The locations are:
  • 1st Location: Highway 59 Underpass on the Trail.

Join the Fair Housing & Hurricane Season Preparedness Outreach Grant Introduction Workshop

The Housing and Community Development Department is working to better equip our community with hurricane preparedness information. We are looking to partner with community advocates, including non-profit organizations to provide outreach, education, and promote fair housing and hurricane preparedness to reduce barriers to fair housing across our community.
 
This program connects hurricane preparedness and fair housing information to lessen the impact of storms on communities at higher risk for experiencing housing discrimination. Selected applicants will receive up to $10,000 of grant funding to complete their work.

The objectives of the workshop are:
 
1. To increase knowledge and awareness of the Hurricane Preparedness Outreach funding opportunity.
2. To review the grant requirements and what will be considered when applications are reviewed.
3. To increase awareness of resources that are available to residents throughout hurricane season.
 
The workshop will be live, allowing participants to ask questions. If you are unable to attend, a recording will be uploaded to the website following the event.
