Shell Property Acquisition
On Thursday October 31st, District K community members joined Mayor Sylvester Turner as he signed the purchase agreement for the 28 acre Shell Research Center on Gasmer, adjacent to the Willow Waterhole Greenway.
This purchase will allow significantly more detention in the northern region of the district to help prevent residents from repeatedly flooding, specifically in the Westbury area. Mayor Turner and I are committed to mitigating flooding and this city project is a step in the right direction. This was a true community collaboration and I am so proud of the work we did to make this happen. State Rep Shawn Thierry said it best, “This is good government at work.”
Grateful Gathering 2019
We have so much to be grateful for. The District K staff and I can’t wait to celebrate this season of thanksgiving with the seniors in our community. It’s going to be an afternoon of line dancing, great food and lots of fun. Don’t forget to rsvp and let us know you are coming. See you there!
Almeda Road at Knight Rd. Waterline Break Emergency Repair
The weekend of November 2nd, my office and the City of Houston Public Works Department responded to a catastrophic, 7’ longitudinal split of an iron pipe water line.
After receiving multiple calls, the District K team and I went out to survey the repairs, deliver bottled water, and assist businesses and residents with plumbing needs. The District K team looks forward to continuing to engage with neighbors in the various communities along Almeda and Knight Rd.
Fort Bend Houston Complete Community Kick Off
On Tuesday October 29th we kicked off public engagement for the Fort Bend Houston Complete Community initiative. It was exciting to see both familiar and new faces providing feedback on the Fort Bend they envision, as we work to build Houston forward.

Hallelujah Night
I’m happy to report once again the District K pumpkin decorating table was a huge hit!
Thank you Pastor Andre Jermaine Lewis and the entire New Faith staff for collaborating with the Houston Police Department, HPD Storefront Association, Vince Young Foundation and the City of Houston to provide a safe, fun evening for District K residents.
W. Bellfort to Bissonnet Street
42-inch Water Line Replacement
On October 16th the District K office attended the W. Bellfort to Bissonnet Street 42-inch water line replacement public meeting. We are excited about all the infrastructure projects that are occurring in District K.
