Thursday, November 24, 2016 (Thanksgiving Day) There will be no collection services today. All SWMD facilities, including the Neighborhood Depositories/Recycling Centers, The Westpark Recycling Center and The Reuse Warehouse will be closed. Friday, November 25, 2016 Thursday’s Garbage, Curbside Recycling, Yard Waste, 4th Thursday’s and 4th Friday’s Tree Waste will be collected today. Mayor Sylvester Turner and the Greater Houston Partnership kicked off the second year of Hire Houston Youth at a breakfast at the new Partnership Tower adjacent to the George R. Brown Convention Center. Hire Houston Youth provides summer internships and jobs to youth ages 16 to 24. Youth are employed for a minimum of 7 weeks and earn at least $8 an hour.
