Attention District K community leaders, The District K office is hosting a Neighborhood 101 workshop on Saturday, May 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. that will address the In’s and Out’s of Neighborhood Protection (see attachment). Westbury Community Garden Celebrates 5 Years

Located at 12581 Dunlap, at the southern edge of the Westbury residential and surrounding a large apartment complex, the Westbury Community Garden has been used as both an educational tool, teaching children from neighboring schools about gardening and a community gathering spot for those interested in growing their own produce. The FM 2234 Reconstruction Project Update

In 2013, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) started the reconstruction expansion of FM 2234 from Cartwright Rd. to the Fort Bend Tollway. Initially, this roadway project was to be 11 months; but over the course of a year, the project is estimated to be complete by June 2015 (weather permitting). The FM 2234 expansion project will include a 4-lane highway (curb and gutter section with a raised median). Last month, Council Member Green facilitated the District K's annual Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) meeting at Fondren Middle School, 6333 South Braeswood Blvd. The Public Works and Engineering Department (PWE) presented a PowerPoint presentation about the Rebuild Houston initiative and gave an update of its 10-year plan.
