HPD Wants You to be “Purse Aware”

HPD, in partnership with the Greater Houston Loss Prevention Alliance (GHLPA) and Crime Stoppers of Houston, want you to be purse aware and guard against purse theft. Area retailers report higher incidents of purse thefts during the summer months. The GHLPA has teamed up with HPD to bring awareness of this crime and teach citizens how to not become a victim. Some general safety tips to keep in mind while running errands:

HPD debunks high crime stats

HPD officers continue to work with the officers of S.E.A.L. Security contracted by the District to maintain an active law enforcement presence and to deter crime In the Five Corners District.

At the December meeting of the board of directors, S.E.A.L. Operations Supervisor Paul Reese gave an updated report on his team’s activities in the area. New Communication Lines to Sexual Assault Victims

The Houston Police Department unveiled a new line of open communications to improve sexual assault investigations. The Sexual Assault Information Line was created to give survivors of sexual assaults a resource to contact HPD about their cases. The phone line provides survivors an opportunity to contact HPD on their own terms.
